From tee-to-green

We have a few venues on the tour calendar that brings golf closer to home, most notably The Open, but there’s something lasting and endearing about the annual BMW Championship that takes place at Wentworth Club in Surrey.
Adorned with centuries old oak trees and brilliantly crafted with beautiful water features away from the meticulously cut fairways, the venue is as much fun to talk around as it is to play golf on. That being said, playing the course proved to be less of a leisurely stroll for those players who fell short of the cut over the weekend.
Off the tee

With the Ryder Cup just a few weeks away, we saw the majority of Luke Donald's team tee it up at Wentworth ahead of the biennial showdown at Bethpage Black.
One such player is veteran Justin Rose, who has had a stellar year on the PGA Tour and almost claimed the 2nd major of his career at Augusta - although we all know who came out on top in that playoff.
Like any huge venue, Wentworth West course has a demanding layout that necessitates accurate, powerful shots off the tee. It also boasts plenty of notoriously challenging holes, including a pair of par-5s to finish that always make for such fascinating viewing.

Rose will be putting his trust in the Pro V1x ball at Bethpage Black, which is a real machine and has been designed to give you excellent distance off the tee. If you’re teeing up your ball on a par-5 or lengthy par 4, this is the model that’ll give you monster distances down the fairway.
From the fairways

One man from across the pond who secured his place at Bethpage Black is World No.1 Scottie Scheffler - no surprise there.
Scottie has been known to hit the fairways with a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball. One of the most used and beloved balls on tour, it’s clear to see why this one is such a winner. Titleist has given this ball a fast core that together with the urethane cover gives heaps of distance on long strikes and the kind of soft touches you require in your short game. This is the kind of trusted feel you’ll want in a golf ball when you’re tackling a tricky par-3 like the 2nd hole at Wentworth.

Around the greens

It goes without saying that Championship-level golf courses boast very impressive, multi-tiered greens that can be as deceptive as they are stunning to look at. Top tour pros like Rose and Scheffler have their own approach to putting that will include playing with a ball that looks best to them when they’re standing over the ball.
While the pros have all sorts of top-of-the-line gear at the ready in their bags, we’d like to recommend you a golf ball that most double-figure-handicap players will feel at home using.

The AVX from Titleist has a softer feel than those in the Pro V1 range, and the High-speed core ensures you get plenty of distance on your strikes too. This ball also comes in a handy AIM 360 model that contains Titleist's alignment aid tech. This striped design runs around the circumference of the ball and makes it a lot easier to line up your putt and read the greens. If you've yet to experiment with alignment aid tech, we'd recommend this excellent golf ball.
We have a great range of golf balls, just like the ones we've mentioned today, in the pro shop, so if you’re in need of some new balls but you’re uncertain of which is best for you, we’re on-hand to help you at the golf club.
